Busy Dizzy

I rescued a pup, back in November of 2011... (Actually on 11/11/11) She goes by the name of Dizzy, and she is about 5 1/2 months old. I've been thinking about making a blog, or maybe just videos about her ventures into the trick dog world, but after all the enthusiasm I have received from those who have seen her tricks thus far, I have decided to go ahead and do it! Hopefully on this blog I will be posting her latest and greatest tricks and achievements. As well as tips and tricks for those of you out there looking to train your dog.

Here are several tips that I've come across from other "dog trainers" around the internet or just from personal experience.

 - Clickers are magic in the dog training world. (A small, cheap, tool used for dog training. The click of a clicker device symbolizes to the dog which exact moment they did something that was worthy of praise/treat.)

 - Negative reinforcement, contrary to popular belief, does not make the dog learn faster. It may very well slow them down, or even stop their learning for the fear that whatever they try will be wrong.. So why try anything?

 - Patience is key. (You can actually tell the moment it clicks into your dogs head that they have figured out exactly what you want them to do, but you must give them time to do so.)

 - Repetition, Repetition, Repetition.

Hopefully soon I can get around to making some videos of her current tricks, and move on to some trick lesson videos.

She has quite a large list of the tricks she already knows, so I'm just going to post a list of her Silly/Unusual tricks.

The Silly/Unusual tricks-
"Yummy" - Licks her lips on cue.
"Eww", "Gross", "No Thankyou" - Rejects food
"Are you hot?" - Pants on cue.
"Wheres my nose?" - Touches my nose.
"Wheres my ear?" - Touches my ear.
"Negative" - Shakes her head No.
"I love you" - She gives me a hug.
("But not that much!" - Gets down from the hug)
"Xbox" - Either turns my Xbox on or off, depending on it's current status.
"Take it" - She will take anything I hand to her.
"Tidy up"- Puts her toys in her toy box.
